Privacy Policy

1. Data We Collect

• Account Data: When you sign in with Google OAuth, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google to create and identify your account.
• Project & Media Data: None. Your video, audio and image files are opened, edited and exported entirely inside your browser and are never uploaded to us. The only exception is auto-subtitles, covered below. When you use Save, a copy of your project settings (timeline, cuts, captions, colour grade) is written to your own browser's local storage on that device; it does not reach us and does not follow you to another device or browser.
• Payment Data: For paid subscriptions, our payment gateway partner Razorpay processes your payment and shares a payment reference and subscription status with us. We never receive or store your full card, UPI, or bank account details.
• Basic Usage Data: We may collect limited technical data (such as browser type or page visited) to keep the service reliable and to fix issues.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the data above to operate your account, process payments and manage your subscription, enforce plan limits and free-trial limits, provide customer support, and maintain the security and reliability of the platform.

3. Third-Party Services & Cookies

• Google OAuth (Google LLC): used solely for account sign-in.
• Supabase (Supabase Inc.): our database and authentication provider, used to store your account, subscription and billing records. Your media files are not stored there.
• Razorpay (Razorpay Software Private Limited): our payment gateway, used to process payments for paid plans.
• OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C., United States): used only when you press the button for a paid AI feature. For Auto Subtitles, your browser separates the audio track from your clip and sends only that audio to OpenAI Whisper to be transcribed; if your browser cannot extract the audio, we refuse the request rather than send your video. For AI Voiceover, only the script text you typed is sent. Neither feature runs on its own, and neither is available on the free plan.
• Pexels (Pexels GmbH, Germany): used only when you open the Stock Library. Your search text is sent to Pexels to fetch results, and the preview clips you see are loaded directly from Pexels, which means Pexels can see your IP address.
• Resend (Resend Inc.): used to send transactional email such as admin login codes and service alerts.
• Google Analytics (Google LLC): we use Google Analytics to count page views and understand which pages people find useful. It sets its own first-party cookies on this site. We do not run advertising on this site and we do not sell your data.
• Google-hosted model files: the background remover downloads an open machine-learning model from Google's and jsDelivr's public CDNs the first time you use it. The model runs in your browser; your video is not sent anywhere to use it.
• We also use local storage for essential things: keeping you signed in, remembering your editor preferences, and storing a project you pressed Save on.
• Free-trial device identifier: so that the lifetime free-trial allowance cannot be reset simply by signing out or clearing site data, we generate a device identifier using a browser-fingerprinting library and store it against your usage count. It is not linked to your account, is not used for advertising or profiling, and is not shared with anyone. Because it is deliberately not linked to an account, we cannot look it up for you - see Data Retention.

4. Data Retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account (Section 6 of our Terms and Conditions), we delete or anonymize it within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain limited records (such as invoices and payment records) to meet legal, accounting, or tax obligations. We hold no media files to delete, because we never received any. The free-trial device identifier described in Section 3 is stored without any link to an account, which means we have no way to find or remove the record belonging to a particular person; it carries no personal detail beyond a usage count and the dates it was seen.

5. Data Security

We rely on our providers' security measures (including encrypted data in transit via HTTPS) and follow reasonable practices to protect your data. As stated in our Terms and Conditions, no online service can guarantee absolute security, and we encourage you to keep local backups of source files that matter to you.

6. Your Rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable data protection laws, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal data we hold about you (such as your account profile or project metadata). To exercise these rights, contact our Grievance Officer below.

7. Children's Privacy

TheClipEditor PRO is intended for users aged 18 and above, or minors using the platform with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian, consistent with Section 1 of our Terms and Conditions. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without such consent.

9. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy as our data practices, security architecture, or compliance requirements evolve. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date below. Continued use of TheClipEditor PRO after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
